AJ Williams, a graduate of Gateway High School in Monroeville, is a former camper turned Counselor-in-Training, who was promoted to Counselor this past summer at Promise Camp. This past fall, AJ was asked to speak about his Promise Camp experience at a fundraising dinner for one of our sponsors, the Holly Alm Camp Scholarship Fund. AJ did an amazing job of sharing his love of the Lord, the importance of Christian camping, especially to at-risk youth, and thanked the Alm Family, HACSF, and Hebron Church for supporting the ministry.
This opportunity, the amazing experiences for hundreds of children at Christian camps – none of this would be possible without the Lord, His Goodness, and following God’s plan.
In the audience that evening was a gentleman who oversees a fund that provides scholarships to Gateway High School graduates who plan to attend CCAC-Boyce. AJ said in his speech that he planned on attending CCAC in the spring, although he had told the staff at the table that night that he might have to postpone until the next term due to finances. The gentleman, not knowing this, told our Executive Director that he wanted to help AJ and pay for his spring term and books. As a result, AJ began his college career in January 2019, pursuing a career in accounting. In AJ’s words, “This opportunity, the amazing experiences for hundreds of children at Christian camps – none of this would be possible without the Lord, His Goodness, and following God’s plan.”
