More Promise Camp, Please!
One Foster Child Finds the Place He Truly Fits In
As told by Jill Buffallini, Camp Registrar
Will I Ever Find a Home?
In my new position as Promise Camp Registrar, I was distributing brochures for the 2015 camp season and met up with 13-year-old Patrick, a young man who is a foster child and had the opportunity to attend Promise Camp last season. After chatting a bit, he shared that he had been placed in a pre-adoptive home but recently had been removed from the home because the family felt it wasn’t a good fit. He shared with me his struggle to “fit in” and the discouragement, loneliness and rejection he was experiencing.
Home Is Where the Lord Is
Patrick then noticed the colorful Promise Camp brochure I was holding in my hand. He looked up at me and said, “You know, Miss Jill, I think I need more Promise Camp!” Such a simple yet profound statement, for this young man found the place where he knew he fit – in the accepting and loving arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I am so very thankful for the ministry and mission of Promise Camp as it seeks to reach children and families in the name of Christ.
Promise Camp is a place where children like Patrick find unconditional love and acceptance. Your support helps us to share the hope of Jesus Christ and provide a truly life-changing camp experience for Pittsburgh’s most vulnerable children.
