Mentors and Mentees Honored at Camp
Saturday, September 19th, was an exciting day! Seventy-four mentors and their mentees descended on Promise Camp to enjoy an afternoon of fun at the Climbing Wall, the Ropes Course, and the Basketball Court. There were also crafts to be done at the Activities Center, as well as just walking around seeing the Camp facilities.
Supping, Singing, Celebrating a Job Well Done
The culmination of this day was a scrumptious dinner catered by Bistro To Go in the brand new Promise Camp Dining Hall for The Call of Mentoring Appreciation Banquet!! Camp Director Brett Probert and three of his summer camp staff led worship after which Mentoring Supervisors Kathleen Grehl, Tiffini Wolfe, and Tammy Knight introduced three mentors—Chuck Gerbe, Christine Sidlo, and John Jordan— who each gave a testimony of their experiences with their mentees. Their stories of enjoying the good times and persevering through the stormy times were touching and real. Following their talks each mentor was presented with an award in recognition of their faithful service.
Hearing the Call
This was the first time mentees have attended the Banquet with their mentors, but we are sure it won’t be the last! We want them to know about the call of mentoring, and how they are created, formed, chosen and loved by a God Who will also redeem them if they come to Him in faith.
