Stock gifts can provide significant tax benefits, including avoiding the capital gains tax. For more information on how to make a gift of securities, please contact Allyson Sveda at 412-741-8550 ext. 222 or asveda@familyguidance.net. Please provide us with:
  • The name and type of securities to be gifted
  • The number of shares
  • The date you intend to make the gift.
Family Guidance encourages donors to seek professional counsel from their personal legal and financial advisors prior to making a stock gift.

corporate giving

matching gifts

Many companies offer employees the opportunity to multiply the impact of their personal donations. Most participating companies will match employee gifts dollar for dollar while some even double (or triple!) match a gift.

How to match your gift:

    1. Obtain a matching gift form or online link from your HR department.
    2. Complete the form and send it to Family Guidance with your donation or send your online application to sbartek@familyguidance.net
    3. Your employer will send the matching gift after Family Guidance verifies your request.

estate

We are also honored when friends of Family Guidance have remembered the ministry in their estate or will. In addition, a codicil to a will can also be done to update your will. Please click here for sample bequest language. We are so grateful for these thoughtful and meaningful gifts.

ira

Naming Family Guidance as the beneficiary of all or a portion of your IRA Policy provides additional support for our ministry. This is one of the most tax-efficient ways to fund a charitable gift from an estate. You may reduce or eliminate federal estate and income taxes related to your retirement account.

Life Insurance Beneficiary

Donors can choose to make Family Guidance the owner and beneficiary of the policy or can choose to make the charity a beneficiary. Just as with other legacy gifts, please notify us of your kind generosity.

Life Income Gifts

Please consider including Family Guidance through a Charitable Remainder Trust or Lead Trust. These gifts can benefit both family members and Family Guidance depending on how they are structured.

IRA Charitable Rollover

Are you age 70 ½ or older with a traditional Individual Retirement Account (IRA)? If so, an IRA Charitable Rollover Gift will allow you to make a gift to Family Guidance and reduce your tax liability.

If you are 70 ½ years of age or older and have a traditional individual retirement account (IRA), you can support Family Guidance through an IRA Charitable Rollover Gift.

While there have been recent changes to the tax laws regarding traditional IRAs, you still have the opportunity to make qualified charitable distributions of up to $100,000 in the calendar year.

to qualify

  • You must be 70 ½ of age or older at the time of your gift
  • The transfer must be made from your IRA directly to Family Guidance
  • Your total annual IRA Charitable Rollover gifts cannot exceed $100,000 in the calendar year of the gift
  • Your gift must be made to Family Guidance by December 31 in the year you decide to make the gift
  • Your gift must be outright. Gifts from your IRA to donor-advised funds or life-income vehicles (such as charitable remainder trusts), do not qualify as IRA Charitable Rollover gifts
  • Contact your IRA custodian to learn more about this giving option.
    Distributions can be mailed to:
    Family Guidance
    850 Cranberry Woods Drive-Suite 2236
    Cranberry Township, PA 16066

For distributions sent via wire transfer, please have your plan custodian contact us at 412-741-8850 ext. 222 for specific instructions.

IRA Charitable Rollover allows:

  • Make a gift directly from your IRA to Family Guidance
  • Satisfy part or all of your annual Required Minimum Distribution from your IRA, and exclude part or all of that distribution from your Federal taxable gross income
  • Support the mission of Family Guidance
